Once you have written and polished your professional resume you have taken the first step towards finding a job. However, the importance of distributing that resume is often ignored. However, these services often require payment, but understand that your resume will be seen by thousands of potential employers. To have that kind of exposure for your resume it would take months of work on your part.

When deciding to use a resume distribution service, though, be aware that they are not all the same. Don’t just immediately use the service that offer the largest numbers. Instead, research the services to be sure that you are using a service that is best for your particular field and job search.

It is important that you are distributing your resume to potential employers in your field. If you are a teacher and a distribution service is giving your resume to all the banks in the area, that will not do you any good. Quality is just as important in quantity in terms of the distribution of your resume.

Because your resume is what will get you that first phone call or email from a potential employer, you need to remember that that employer needs to actually see your resume. By distributing your resume you are advertising yourself and your skills just as business owners might advertise their business. If a business never advertised they would never have customers. Your resume is your advertisement that will get you the exposure you need.
